On Tuesday night July 27, 2021, The Harlem Globetrotters slam-dunked their way into the Baxter Arena in Omaha, Nebraska, and put on an unforgettable show for fans in attendance. The Globetrotters took on the Washington Generals, and in a back-and-forth match, came out victorious.
Before the game began, the Harlem Globetrotters signed basketballs, performed tricks, and took photos with fans who had a Magic Pass. This was a great opportunity for Globetrotter fans to get up close and personal with the players, and even shoot some hoops with the team. The players were spread out across the court at different stations and spent about an hour with the fans before the game.
Founded in 1926, the Harlem Globetrotters have broken down barriers, contributed to their communities, and entertained more than 143 million fans in 123 countries! There’s been over 750 men and women who have played for the team, and the different subdivisions of the Globetrotters put on over 400 live events a year!
Fans in attendance at the Baxter Arena were treated to some spectacular basketball maneuvers, music by the team’s DJ, and entertainment from the Globetrotters’ Grandma Drew, their court jester and mascot, “Globie”, and the “ankle doctor”, whose tag line, “Don’t wurrr ‘bout it!”, had fans cracking up.
This was the first time I’ve ever seen the Harlem Globetrotters live and in person, and I understand now why they have an ongoing legacy that’s lasted almost a century! On top of being extremely entertaining, each of the players are amazingly talented, and the team goes above and beyond to interact with the crowd and make sure their fans go home happy!
I can’t wait until the Harlem Globetrotters come back to Nebraska!
