Garth Brooks Makes History in Lincoln, Nebraska

In the presence of 90,000 screaming fans, Garth Brooks lit up the Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska on Saturday night August 14th.  As part of his 2021 stadium tour, and with the health of his fans in mind, this will be the last show Brooks will hold until the pandemic starts to improve.

It was a history-making night in Lincoln because not only was this the first concert held at the stadium since 1987, but this show was the largest ticketed show Brooks had ever played.

There wasn’t an opening act, but concertgoers definitely got their money’s worth!  Brooks performed for nearly 3 hours while fans stood on their feet and sang along.  He kept telling the audience what a great time he was having, and with 90,000 country music fanatics in attendance, there was definitely a magic feeling in the air… especially during his ballads, when fans lit up the stadium with their lighters and cell phones.

Brooks has an undeniable charisma and energy when he performs, and his love for his band, his music, and his fans was obvious.  Dowsed with sweat and a smile on his face, he sang hit after hit, and just when you thought the show was coming to a close, he kept going.

Towards the end of the show, fans were surprised with a special appearance by Trisha Yearwood, Brooks’ wife.  Yearwood received one of the largest pops of the night, and treated fans to a few of her well-known songs, followed by an amazing duet of the song, “Shallow”, with Garth.

One of the coolest parts of the concert for me happened during the first, that’s right, there were two, encores!  Brooks looked to the audience and their signs to decide what songs to sing, in a non-rehearsed moment that left some fans so overcome with emotion, they were brought to tears.

Brooks gave concertgoers an unforgettable night of entertainment and wasn’t shy about expressing how much fun he was having.  At one point, he even said that this was “the coolest things” he’s ever been a part of.

Garth hopes to continue the stadium tour in 2022, and if you have the chance to attend, you will not be disappointed.  This show proved to me why Garth Brooks is one of the world’s best-selling music artists, selling over 170 million albums!
