April 18, 2024 – The Admiral – Omaha, NE
Omaha, Nebraska was the place to be on Thursday night April 18, 2024 because comedic glam metal band Steel Panther invaded The Admiral for a night of awesome metal music on the first show of their 2024 On the Prowl Tour!
After nearly four years of covering concerts and special events, I was so excited to see my first Steel Panther concert, and I was not disappointed. These guys know how to put on a show!
The band was formed in 2000 in Los Angeles, California and was originally named Metal Shop before changing their name to Steel Panther in 2008. The band consists of Michael Starr, Satchel, Stix Zadinia, and Spyder, and they’re known for their profane and hilarious lyrics, throwback costumes, and for their parody of the stereotypical glam metal lifestyle.
Steel Panther fans, clad in neon spandex, teased wigs, and leather jackets packed The Admiral to witness all the magic this band had to offer. These were diehard fans!
Before the glam rock gods took the spotlight, we were treated to a performance from Stitched Up Heart, a Los Angeles-based, hard rock band who has amazing stage presence.
The band was formed in 2010 and consists of Alecia Demner, James Decker, Merritt Goodwin, and Randy Mathias. They have over 84 thousand monthly listeners on Spotify, and their latest album To The Wolves is definitely worth checking out. A perfect way to kick off the show!
After a brief intermission, Steel Panther burst onto the stage.
Michael Starr, the frontman, decked out in leather pants, bandana, and sunglasses, kicked things off. The fans went absolutely crazy for this guy, and he owned that stage! The guitars squealed, the lyrics got raunchy, and the crowd went wild! The Steel Panther experience I had heard about was in full effect, and the party had literally just begun.
After a few minutes, Satchel stepped forward for an amazing guitar solo, channeling ’80s vibes with riffs that would make Eddie Van Halen proud. The band’s musicianship was on point, each member pushing their limits. From more killer guitar solos to face-melting drum beats, these guys were rocking, and they had the fans in the palm of their hands!
In true Steel Panther fashion, the band brought women onstage to get an up close experience with the band. I just kept thinking this experience was like stepping into a time machine straight to the golden age of hair metal, but with a hilarious twist. It was one big party, and between songs they had the crowd in stitches with their hilarious banter and outrageous antics.
This was a night of glorious, amazing, charismatic, and downright entertaining rock ‘n’ roll. Steel Panther knows how to put on a show, and they left us all wanting more. What a blast!
Steel Panther has released six studio albums and they have over 457 thousand monthly listeners on Spotify. Make sure to check out their latest album, On the Prowl on all streaming platforms!
A huge thanks to their management team for letting me experience Steel Panther live!
