Indigo Girls with Annie Humphrey

April 16, 2024 – The Astro – La Vista, NE

La Vista, Nebraska was the place to be on Tuesday night April 16, 2024 because the Indigo Girls brought their Look Long Tour to The Astro for an awesome night of folk music.

The night kicked off with an emotional performance from Annie Humphrey, a Native American singer/songwriter from Minnesota.  Humphrey’s dad taught her how to play the guitar when she was in the first grade, and two years after that she taught herself how to play the piano and began writing songs. Her voice was beautiful, and her lyrics were powerful.  A truly moving performance and fantastic way to kick off the show.

Next up was the headliners!

A huge crowd packed The Astro ready to experience the magic of the Indigo Girls, and as the lights dimmed, Amy and Emily stepped onto the stage with their guitars in hand. Their harmonies were powerful, each note resonating through The Astro. It was as if time stood still, and the audience was transported to a place of raw emotion.

The Indigo Girls, comprised of Amy Ray and Emily Saliers, have been entertaining crowds with their soulful folk-rock music since 1985, and they don’t appear to be slowing down any time soon!

Their journey began on a playground in Decatur, Georgia. Amy and Emily met as kids and have been making music together since high school. Their bond is evident on stage—the way they communicate through their instruments and voices is nothing short of magical.

They have over 848 thousand monthly listeners on Spotify, and have won a Spirit of America Free Speech Award, a Pell Award, and a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Recording.

The setlist was a blend of old favorites and newer tracks. The Indigo Girls have a way of making timeless music that transcends generations.

During “Shame on You,” the crowd swayed, caught up in the infectious groove.

The Indigo Girls are enjoyable live performers and this show was amazing, impassioned, and seamless. The soulful energy they brought to each song left the audience exhilarated.

If you ever have the chance to see them live, make sure you do!  You won’t be disappointed.
