On Tuesday night June 13, 2023, Counting Crows visited the new Steelhouse venue in Omaha, Nebraska. This was my first time visiting Steelhouse, and let me just say, the venue is nothing short of spectacular!
Omaha was the first stop on the band’s Banshee Season Tour, and what a night it was for the band to showcase their timeless sound and undeniable stage presence. Even after all these years, they left the audience captivated.
From the moment lead singer Adam Duritz stepped onto the stage, it was evident the band was ready to deliver a night to remember. Duritz’s distinctive voice, filled with raw emotion and vulnerability, resonated throughout the venue, immediately drawing the audience into the world of Counting Crows.
The setlist was a carefully curated mix of fan favorites and lesser-known gems, showcasing the band’s musical range and versatility. Hits like “Mr. Jones,” “Round Here,” and “A Long December” had the crowd singing along in unison, their voices blending with Duritz’s in a magical harmony.
Counting Crows’ performance was nothing short of mesmerizing. The band members displayed an incredible level of musicianship, effortlessly weaving together their instruments to create a rich and layered sound. From the intricate guitar solos to the soulful keyboard melodies, each member of the band shone in their own right.
For me, the standout moment of the evening was when Duritz performed “Colorblind.” That song gets me every time, and it brought me back to my college years! This was an amazing rendition, with the audience clinging to every word.
Beyond the music, Counting Crows fostered a genuine connection with the audience. Duritz’s charismatic stage presence and heartfelt interactions created an intimate atmosphere, making everyone in the crowd feel like they were a part of something special.
The stage was complemented by an impressive light show that enhanced the emotional impact of the music. The sound quality at Steelhouse was pristine, allowing every instrument and lyric to shine through, enveloping the audience in a musical journey.
As the concert drew to a close, the crowd erupted in applause and cheers, and showed their appreciation for the group.
Night one of Counting Crows’ Banshee Season Tour was a night to remember. The band’s timeless sound, combined with their genuine connection with the audience, created an unforgettable concert experience. They proved once again why they have become an iconic figure in the alternative rock scene, leaving fans eager for more music and eagerly anticipating the rest of their tour.
