Blues Traveler, Gin Blossoms & Spin Doctors

July 6, 2025 – The Astro – La Vista, NE

It was a hot Sunday night in Omaha, Nebraska, and The Astro was the perfect setting for a night filled with nostalgic rock and energetic performances from Spin Doctors, Gin Blossoms, and Blues Traveler.

Spin Doctors kicked off the show and immediately set the tone for the evening with infectious energy and tight musicianship. Best known for their early ’90s hits like “Two Princes” and “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong,” the band reminded the crowd why they once topped charts and earned Grammy nominations during their heyday. Their surprise rendition of Prince’s “Purple Rain” was easily the highlight of their set—it was raw, soulful, and absolutely electric. I had never seen them live before, but they completely blew me away.

Next to the stage was Gin Blossoms, a band that always seems to strike the perfect balance between emotional depth and radio-friendly rock. They’ve earned multiple Billboard chart placements and a Grammy nomination for their breakout hit “Hey Jealousy.” It’s easy to see why they’re fan favorites. This was my fourth time seeing them live, and honestly, they keep getting better. The band looked and sounded fantastic—tight harmonies, heartfelt vocals, and a setlist packed with hits like “Found Out About You,” “Follow You Down,” and of course, “Hey Jealousy.” The crowd sang along to every word.

After a lengthy intermission, Blues Traveler took the stage. Unfortunately, they hit some delays—possibly due to technical difficulties—and because of La Vista’s strict noise curfew, they had to trim their set. Even with the shortened time, they still delivered an outstanding performance. With a Grammy Award under their belt for Best Rock Performance and a career spanning decades, Blues Traveler proved they haven’t lost their touch. Frontman John Popper’s harmonica skills are still unmatched, and the band’s chemistry was undeniable. The highlight of their set was when they invited the Gin Blossoms back on stage to perform a powerful, crowd-pleasing cover of Tom Petty’s “Mary Jane’s Last Dance.”

This concert was everything I hoped it would be—a time machine back to my high school years when these artists dominated my playlists. Seeing all three bands in one night was a treat, and while Spin Doctors were a first for me, Gin Blossoms and Blues Traveler delivered like they always do. What a fantastic night of music and memories!
