May 30, 2026 – The Astro – La Vista, NE
Saturday night, May 30, 2026, was a great night for music in La Vista, Nebraska, as Here Come The Mummies came to The Astro as part of The Astro’s free Summer Encore series.
I was especially excited for this one because one of my bosses has been telling me for the past few years that I needed to see them live. It finally worked out, and I can honestly say they delivered.
Here Come The Mummies are not your average funk-rock band. They are an eight-piece group of 5,000-year-old Egyptian mummies who bring what they call “Terrifying Funk from Beyond the Grave” to the stage. The whole thing is weird, hilarious, funky, and ridiculously entertaining in the best possible way.
Over the years, HCTM has built a strong reputation as a must-see live act. They have served as direct support for artists like P-Funk, Al Green, Mavis Staples, KC and the Sunshine Band, and Cheap Trick. They have also played major events and festivals, including Super Bowl Village, Summerfest, Summer Camp, Bluesfest Byron Bay, Musikfest, and Suwannee Hulaween. They have appeared on The Bob and Tom Show and That’s My Jam with Jimmy Fallon, and they continue to sell thousands of tickets across North America.
The band’s lineup includes Mummy Cass on guitar and vocals, Eddie Mummy on drums and vocals, K.W. TuT on bass and vocals, Spaz on keys and vocals, The Pole! on bass, Midnight Mummy on sax, keys, percussion, talk box, and vocals, Dr. Yo on saxes, vocals, and tambourine, Highlander on tenor sax, and HPOD on trumpet.
The show was originally supposed to take place outside, but because of the weather, it was moved inside. Honestly, I think that worked out even better. A darker indoor room felt like the perfect setting for this band. The stage was bathed in dark blue, green, and purple lights with plenty of fog, and of course, the entire band was wrapped from head to toe in mummy attire. It added so much to the atmosphere and made the whole show feel like a strange, funky party from another world.
These guys looked awesome and sounded great. Their songs were catchy, the musicianship was tight, and the crowd absolutely loved them. It was impossible not to get pulled into the fun. They had a full horn section, tons of personality, and the kind of stage presence that makes you understand pretty quickly why people keep recommending them.
What makes Here Come The Mummies work so well is that the gimmick never feels lazy. The costumes and characters are obviously a huge part of the show, but the music is strong enough to stand on its own. They are funny, talented, and completely committed to the bit, which makes the whole experience even better.
They currently have nearly 50 thousand monthly listeners on Spotify, and their latest EP, Road Trip, is definitely worth checking out. After seeing them live, it is easy to understand why they have such a loyal following.
This was such a fun show. Here Come The Mummies brought the funk, the humor, the fog, and a whole lot of personality to The Astro. My boss was right. I definitely needed to see them live.
If you get the chance to catch Here Come The Mummies in concert, make sure you do. You will absolutely get your money’s worth.
