July 20, 2024 – Stir Cove – Council Bluffs, IA

Council Bluffs, Iowa was the place to be on Saturday night July 20, 2024 because the legendary Grammy Award-winning rock group Creed brought their Summer of ‘99 Tour to a sold out Stir Cove!

In case you’ve been living under a rock since 1994, Creed is a band that defined a generation, especially if you were into rock in the late ’90s and early 2000s.

Formed in 1994 in Florida, the band brought a unique mix of post-grunge and alternative rock that resonated with millions. Their music is marked by powerful, emotional lyrics, driven by Scott Stapp’s deep and passionate vocals and Mark Tremonti, Brian Marshall, and Scott Phillips incredible musicianship.

Their debut album, “My Own Prison,” dropped in 1997 and was a massive hit, but it was their second album, “Human Clay,” that catapulted them to super-stardom with tracks like “With Arms Wide Open” and “Higher.”  The group has won a Grammy Award, four American Music Awards, and have been nominated for numerous MTV Video Music Awards.

Seeing them live was definitely on my bucket list, and they didn’t disappoint.

Thousands of fans packed Stir Cove for an amazing night of rock music, and the night kicked off with Finger Eleven, a Canadian rock band that has been making waves since their formation in 1990. Their breakthrough came with the 2003 album “Finger Eleven,” which included hits like “One Thing” and “Good Times.” “Paralyzer,” from their 2007 album “Them vs. You vs. Me,” became a massive hit and is one of their most recognizable songs.

From the moment they stepped onstage, you could tell the crowd was ready!  Their setlist was a fantastic mix of their classics and newer tracks, keeping both longtime fans and newcomers engaged. Songs like “One Thing” and “Good Times” had everyone singing along, while their heavier tracks had the whole place rocking out. The guitar work by James Black was impressive, seamlessly switching between melodic riffs and hard-hitting solos.  Finger Eleven has won two BDS Spin Awards, a Muchmusic Award, a SOCAN Award, and currently has over 4.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify.  What a great way to start the show!

After a brief intermission, smoke and lights engulfed the stage, Creed appeared, and the crowd went absolutely nuts!

From the moment the band took the stage, the energy was through the roof. They opened with “Bullets,” and the crowd instantly erupted, singing along with Scott Stapp’s powerful vocals.

The setlist was a perfect blend of their biggest hits and fan favorites. “With Arms Wide Open” was an emotional highlight, with everyone swaying and singing in unison. Mark Tremonti’s guitar solos were outstanding, showcasing his impressive skills and adding an extra layer of intensity to the performance.

The band’s stage presence was awesome, and they had a genuine connection with the audience. Scott Stapp took time between songs to thank the fans for their support, and you could tell the band was happy to be onstage.  At one point, they even called two young fans onstage and presented them with an electric guitar!  Congratulations Ana and Brandon!

Creed delivered a phenomenal live show that reminded everyone why they are one of the greats. The night was a perfect blend of nostalgia, raw talent, and a genuine connection with the fans.  If you ever have the chance to see them live, do it!  They put on one hell of a show!
