August 11, 2023 – Baxter Arena – Omaha, NE
Attending the My 90’s Playlist concert was like stepping into a time machine that whisked the audience back to an era of flannel shirts, slap bracelets, and neon windbreakers. The event, held at the Baxter Arena on Friday night August 11, 2023, offered an immersive and energetic experience that celebrated the unforgettable music of the 1990s. While not without a few minor hiccups and a late start, the concert succeeded in delivering a captivating journey through a cherished musical decade.
The lineup featured a diverse selection of ’90s hits performed by the original artists and talented DJs.
The evening kicked off with Immense D.I., a 21 year old up-and-comer in the music industry. He had great energy and is inspired to be an impactful voice in the indie music scene. If you get a chance, check out his single, “Champion!”
Next up was T-Zank & Tmbr Wolf, whose energy was off the charts. The lineup also included sets from Birdsall, Montell Jordan, All 4 One, Juvenile, and Vanilla Ice.
The highlights of the night for me were performances from Montell Jordan and All 4 One, who flawlessly recreated their anthems that defined the decade. Montell Jordan, who is now a pastor, encouraged the crowd to find God, and had a smile on his face the entire time.
All 4 One’s tribute to the boy band phenomenon, complete with synchronized dance routines and boyish charm, had the entire crowd dancing and singing along. They performed all of their smash hits, including, “I Can Love You Like That”, and “She’s Got Skillz.”
The concert encountered a few technical glitches throughout the night, such as sound imbalances during certain performances and occasional issues with microphones and speakers. While these moments momentarily disrupted the flow, the artists and crew swiftly addressed them, ensuring that the show went on without major interruptions.
Audience engagement was a strong point of the My 90’s Playlist concert. The artists frequently interacted with the crowd, sharing anecdotes about the songs and the era, which added a personal touch to the experience. From call-and-response segments to sing-along sessions, the audience was an integral part of the show, turning the event into a shared celebration of beloved memories. Vanilla Ice even invited people onstage to party with him during his set.
In terms of nostalgia factor, the concert delivered in spades. Attendees of all ages reveled in the opportunity to relive their youth, singing along to chart-toppers and dance floor classics that had defined their younger years. The My 90’s Playlist concert managed to capture the essence of the era and served as a reminder of just how influential and enduring the music of the ’90s continues to be.
The My 90’s Playlist concert was a joyful and engaging celebration of a bygone era. While minor technical issues may have briefly detracted from the experience, the overall presentation, enthusiastic performances, and immersive atmosphere more than made up for them. For anyone seeking a blast from the past and a chance to relive the magic of the 1990s, this concert was undoubtedly a trip down memory lane that left a lasting smile on the faces of its attendees.
