August 3, 2023 – Stir Cove – Council Bluffs, IA
Stir Cove was transported back in time on August 3rd, 2023, as country music legend Travis Tritt took the stage for a spellbinding concert that left the audience in awe. With a career spanning decades, Tritt’s ability to captivate a crowd remains as strong as ever, and this concert was no exception.
The night kicked off with an absolutely incredible performance from War Hippies, two USMC and US Army Combat Veterans. The duo, comprised of Scooter Brown and Donnie Reis, immediately grabbed the crowd’s attention with their deep voices, guitar, and violin. They have over 23 thousand monthly listeners on Spotify, and to say that I was impressed with their performance would be an understatement. Brown, who currently has over 5 million streams across his social media platforms, debuted at the Grand Ole Opry in 2019, and won the 2020 Fan Army Award and the 2019 Male Vocalist of the Year Award at the Rocky Mountain Country Music Awards. Reis, who is an absolute beast on the violin, owns a recording studio in Nashville, launched his own violin company in 2017, and received a full music scholarship to Miami University, but chose to enlist in the U.S. Army after his sophomore year. Their 2022 self-titled album, “War Hippies”, is definitely worth a listen. These two were fantastic, and had the crowd on their feet and cheering throughout their set – the perfect way to kick off an amazing night of music!
After a brief intermission, the lights dimmed and the spotlight hit the stage. After his band, Travis Tritt emerged with his guitar in hand, exuding an air of authenticity that only comes from an artist who has lived and breathed their craft for years. The crowd erupted in cheers, instantly creating an electric atmosphere that lasted throughout the entire show.
Tritt’s setlist was a carefully crafted journey through his extensive catalog of hits, seamlessly blending foot-stomping anthems with heartfelt ballads. Classics like “Here’s a Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares)” and “T-R-O-U-B-L-E” had the entire concert cove singing along at the top of their lungs, while poignant songs like “Anymore” and “Drift Off to Dream” had a hushed reverence falling over the audience.
Tritt’s band was a powerhouse of talent, flawlessly executing intricate musical arrangements that showcased their incredible skill. The interplay between Tritt and his band members was a joy to witness, as they effortlessly navigated the highs and lows of his diverse repertoire.
The production of the concert was top-notch, with dynamic lighting and crystal-clear sound that allowed every instrument and note to shine. Whether it was a foot-stomping rocker or a soulful ballad, the production elements enhanced the emotional impact of each song.
Tritt’s undeniable talent, engaging storytelling, and genuine connection with the audience created an experience that will linger in the hearts and minds of concertgoers for a long time. This was not just a concert; it was a celebration of music, memories, and the enduring legacy of a true country music icon.
