October 27, 2024 – Steelhouse – Omaha, NE
The Steelhouse in downtown Omaha, Nebraska, was the place to be on Sunday night, October 27, 2024, as Tori Kelly graced the stage for her 2024 Purple Skies Tour. With the talented Maisy Kay opening, the night was nothing short of spectacular!
Maisy Kay, a British-born pop singer and songwriter known for her powerful vocals and soulful pop sound, kicked things off. Starting her music journey at a young age, Maisy moved to Los Angeles as a teenager to pursue her dream, quickly gaining attention for her expressive voice and emotional depth. She’s often compared to artists like Adele and Florence Welch for her range and ability to connect with audiences.
Her breakout moment came with her song “Enough,” which she recorded for the soundtrack of the superhero film Wonder Woman, giving her music international exposure. While Maisy hasn’t yet won major awards, she’s been recognized as an up-and-coming artist to watch by several music publications and has a steadily growing fan base. She has over 496 thousand monthly listeners on Spotify, and her latest 2024 release, Wanderlust: The Dusk, is definitely worth checking out! (“Love Is A God” is my favorite!)
I have to admit that I wasn’t too familiar with her music before this show, but after just a few songs, I became a fan! Her set was an unexpectedly intimate and emotional experience, showcasing her incredible vocal talent and knack for storytelling. The moment she stepped on stage, she had the crowd’s full attention, captivating everyone with her blend of pop and cinematic flair. She opened with a few of her more upbeat tracks, her voice soaring effortlessly, and as soon as she hit the first chorus, you could feel the goosebumps ripple through the room.
When she slowed it down for a ballad like “Enough,” the atmosphere became even more intense. Her voice is haunting and so powerful live; it’s one thing to hear it recorded, but in person, it’s like it reaches right into you. Maisy kept it real, talking to the crowd between songs about the stories behind her music, which made the whole set feel really personal. By the end of her set, you could tell she’d gained even more fans – me included. It was the kind of performance that stays with you long after it’s over.
Fantastic way to open the show.
After a brief intermission, it was time for Tori Kelly!

Her voice was flawless and full of soul, and she didn’t hold back in putting real emotion into every lyric.
