August 10, 2025 – The Astro – La Vista, NE
It was a perfect summer night on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at The Astro Amphitheater in La Vista, Nebraska. Thousands of fans packed the place for an outdoor show that couldn’t have asked for better weather, and both bands made sure everyone got their money’s worth.
Wilderado opened things up, and man, they were great. The Tulsa-based trio—Max Rainer, Tyler Wimpee, and Justin Kila—brought this warm, indie-folk energy that hit just right as the sun was going down. Formed back in 2015, they’ve slowly but surely built up a solid following, with EPs like Latigo and Favors turning heads and their self-titled debut album really putting them on the map. These days they’ve got almost a million monthly listeners on Spotify, and their latest release Talker is definitely one to add to your indie folk playlist. Max’s vocals sounded incredible live, and the whole set had this easygoing vibe that set the stage perfectly for the night.
After a short break, it was time for The Head and the Heart, and the crowd was buzzing. From the first note, the Seattle group—Jonathan Russell, Charity Rose Thielen, Matt Gervais, Chris Zasche, Kenny Hensley, and Tyler Williams—had the place locked in. They’ve been at it since 2009, and you could tell—they know how to build a set that hits all the feels. Of course they played the classics like “Rivers and Roads” and “Lost in My Mind” that had people singing at the top of their lungs, but the new songs from their 2025 album Aperture blended in seamlessly. Tracks like “Arrow” and “After the Setting Sun” felt huge under the open sky, and the band’s harmonies were as beautiful as ever.
The whole night felt like one of those perfect summer concerts—you get the golden-hour glow, a killer opener in Wilderado, and then The Head and the Heart bringing it all home with a set that was both emotional and uplifting. Just pure good vibes in Nebraska.
