October 1, 2019 – The Orpheum Theater – Omaha, NE
On Tuesday night October 1, 2019, Grammy Award-winning and Vocal Group Hall of Fame artists, the Doobie Brothers, played for a sold-out crowd at the Orpheum Theater in Omaha, Nebraska. Their seventeen-song set included a plethora of their Billboard hits, and an awesome encore performance. The group has been active for over five decades, and they don’t show any signs of slowing down anytime soon. Their performance had concertgoers singing along and cheering all night long. The group’s current lineup consists of Tom Johnston (vocals, guitars), Patrick Simmons (vocals, guitars), John McFee (guitars, fiddle, backing vocals), and touring members Bill Payne (keyboards), John Cowan (bass, vocals), Marc Russo (saxophone), and Ed Toth (drums). From the time they took the stage, the band showed off their vocal harmonies, and proved why they were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. The group’s style of feel-good Rock & Roll blended with Soul originated in San Jose, California, and has definitely stood the test of time. They continue to tour, playing roughly seventy to eighty shows a year, and have remained popular among a wide variety of audiences thanks to social media. This was a feel-good concert, and I’m happy I had the chance to see this staple in American Rock & Roll music live!
