Save Ferris Kicks Off 2026 In Style

It was a bitterly cold night in downtown Omaha, Nebraska on Friday, January 16, 2026, but Save Ferris brought more than enough energy to warm up the Holland Music Club. Walking into the venue, you could already feel the excitement buzzing in the air. Fans of all ages packed the room, and the decision to leave space for a dedicated dance floor proved to be a great call, because it was full from the moment the band hit the stage.

For those who might not know, Save Ferris has been a staple in the ska-punk scene since forming in Orange County, California around 1995. Their name, of course, a playful nod to the movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. They quickly made a name for themselves in the Southern California underground scene before winning a Grammy Showcase Award for Best Unsigned Band in 1996, which led to a deal with Epic Records. Their 1997 debut album It Means Everything helped cement their place in ska-pop history, and while they later leaned more into pop-punk by 1999, their high-energy, brass-filled sound has remained iconic. After a hiatus, they returned in 2017 with the Checkered Past EP, proving they still had plenty left in the tank. These days, with over 182,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, it’s clear their music continues to find both longtime fans and new ones alike, especially their beloved cover of “Come On Eileen,” which still gets crowds going decades later.

The Holland Music Club, tucked inside the Holland Performing Arts Center, was a perfect setting for a show like this. Intimate, but lively. You could tell the band was feeding off the crowd just as much as the crowd was feeding off them. Lead singer Monique Powell looked fantastic and sounded even better, switching up her outfits throughout the night like a true frontwoman who knows how to own a stage. Her presence was magnetic, and you could tell she was genuinely having a blast performing.

The band was tight, clean, and fun. The horns hit hard, the rhythm section kept everything moving, and every song felt polished but still full of that raw, high-energy spirit that made Save Ferris famous in the first place.

This was my first concert of the year, so maybe I’m a little biased, but honestly, wow. Save Ferris absolutely delivered. If this is how 2026 is starting in live music, I’ve got a good feeling it’s going to be another incredible year.
