February 14, 2024 – Pinnacle Bank Arena – Lincoln, NE

The Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska was transformed into a thunderous arena of metal as two heavyweights of the genre, Lamb of God and Pantera, shared the stage for a night of intense headbanging and raw energy.

The concert, which took place on Valentine’s Day night, was a collision of powerful riffs and guttural vocals that left the audience in awe of the sheer force unleashed by these iconic bands.

Lamb of God, the Virginia-based metal juggernaut, kicked off the night with an explosive set that showcased their signature blend of groove metal and thrash. Frontman Randy Blythe’s menacing growls reverberated through the arena, commanding attention from the eager crowd, as the mosh pits started to form!

The band’s precise and relentless instrumentation, fueled by Chris Adler’s thunderous drumming, set the tone for an evening of sonic chaos.

The setlist featured a mix of Lamb of God classics, including “Laid to Rest” and “Redneck,” alongside tracks from their latest album. The seamless transitions between bone-crushing breakdowns and melodic interludes kept the audience on the edge of their seats, creating an atmosphere of controlled chaos that is synonymous with Lamb of God’s live performances.

As the mosh pits swirled and the crowd roared in approval, Lamb of God’s stage presence was commanding, and their connection with the audience was palpable. The band’s dedication to their craft and the intensity of their performance left no doubt that they remain a dominant force in the metal scene.

The anticipation reached a fever pitch as the stage was set for Pantera, the legendary Texas metal band that has left an indelible mark on the genre. Despite the absence of the late Dimebag Darrell, the remaining members, including vocalist Phil Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown, delivered a tribute to their iconic guitarist that was nothing short of electrifying.

Pantera’s setlist was a relentless onslaught of classics, from the ferocious “Cowboys from Hell” to the anthemic “Walk.” Anselmo’s commanding stage presence and guttural vocals transported the audience to the golden era of ’90s metal, and the crowd responded with unbridled enthusiasm.

The concert also featured poignant moments, including tributes to Dimebag Darrell, creating a sense of nostalgia and reverence for the band’s influential legacy. The synergy between Pantera and the audience was electric, as metalheads of all ages united in a shared celebration of the band’s unparalleled impact on the genre.

Echoing the sentiments of my good friend Spencer, who was also covering the show for his outlet, Stories From the Crowd, this night was “something special.”

For those lucky enough to witness this monumental night, the echoes of Lamb of God’s aggression and Pantera’s power will resonate for years to come, a testament to the enduring power of metal in its purest, most visceral form.
