Material Girl & The Fame Monster Take Over East of Omaha

What’s better than listening to a legendary diva in concert? Listening to TWO legendary divas in concert! That’s exactly what concertgoers got to experience when Material Girl & The Fame Monster, the number one Madonna and Lady Gaga tribute group in the U.S., took over the East of Omaha venue in Griswold, Iowa on Saturday night June 19, 2021.

The group, led by Sara, who performs as Madonna and Lady Gaga, consists of Marlon on electric and acoustic guitars and B Vox, Tyson on bass guitar, and Shawn on drums. They’ve been wowing crowds nationally and internationally, since 2013 with their spot-on tributes to the two iconic divas.

The night started out with a large video screen playing Madonna videos to get the crowd at East of Omaha ready for the show. When the screen lifted and Sara took the stage as Madonna, the crowd erupted and immediately started dancing and singing along. Madonna (Sara) entertained the crowd with all of her hits from the early 80’s to some of her most recent billboard songs. The highlight for me was hearing, “Like a Prayer”, my favorite Madonna song.

After a brief intermission, and videos of famous Lady Gaga performances, Sara once again took the stage, but this time, as Lady Gaga. I’ve gotta tell you. The resemblance was uncanny, and the vocals were spot-on. During the songs, “Shallow”, and “Telephone”, especially, the vocals sounded so similar to Lady Gaga, I forgot for a second that it was Sara on stage. Combined with the lights, backing vocals, and the talented band behind her, Sara’s 75-minute set had the crowd on their feet and crowding the dancefloor. It was awesome!

The group is based out of the midwest, but travels all over and has plenty of upcoming shows lined up. If you have the opportunity, you should definitely check them out! You won’t be disappointed.
