April 7, 2023 – Baxter Arena – Omaha, NE
On Friday night April 7, 2023, Dwayne Carter Jr., better known as Lil Wayne, brought his “Welcome to tha Carter Tour” to the sold-out Baxter Arena in Omaha, Nebraska.
Thousands of fans packed the arena and were treated to a live DJ and three opening acts, including North Carolina native Cordae, whose 2019 debut studio album, “The Lost Boy” garnered him two Grammy nominations for Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song respectively.
Cordae put on a great show and made his way through the crowd after his set to talk and take photos with fans.
After much anticipation, Lil Wayne took the stage, and the crowd erupted. Wayne’s career began in 1995 at the age of 12, so he’s no stranger to the stage. This was my second time seeing him live, and he delivered. Wayne wore diamond rings and a diamond necklace, sunglasses, stocking hat, an oversized sweatshirt, and of course, had a blunt in his hand and a smile on his face. He gave thanks to the crowd, and proclaimed, “I ain’t shit without you!” He performed a slew of his well known hits including, “Lollipop”, “Mr. Carter”, and “A Milli”, while the crowd sang along and waved their hands in the air.
Lil Wayne has an infectious energy on stage, and his fans showed their appreciation throughout the show by screaming and cheering at the top of their lungs.
Wayne has sold over 120 million records worldwide, and is one of the world’s best-selling music artists. He’s won 5 Grammy Awards, 11 BET Awards, 4 Billboard Music Awards, 2 MTV Music Awards, and 8 NAACP Image Awards. He’s the CEO of his own record label, Young Money Entertainment, and currently has over 32 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
If you have the chance to see Lil Wayne live, make sure you do!
It’s easy to see why he’s been dubbed one of the greatest rappers of all time.
