Jon Bellion & Friends Rock The Pinewood Bowl

July 24, 2019 – Pinewood Bowl Amphitheater – Lincoln, NE

The Nebraska heat didn’t keep concertgoers away from the Pinewood Bowl in Lincoln, Nebraska on Wednesday night July 24th.  Hundreds of fans gathered to witness headliner, Jon Bellion, along with opening acts, Lawrence, and Marc E. Bassy.

Opening the nearly four-hour concert was Lawrence, a brother/sister duo from New York City.  Lead singers, Clyde and Gracie Lawrence, were joined on stage with five of their other bandmates playing horns, drums, and guitar.  Lawrence is no stranger to the stage, having previously opened for such acts as Blues Traveler, O.A.R., and many others.  Their genre can best be described as Soul-Pop, and they helped set the tone of the night with great energy and catchy songs from their albums, “Breakfast”, and “Living Room.”  The duo even performed a cover of Sean Paul’s, “Get Busy.”

Next to the stage was San Francisco-based performer, Marc E. Bassy.  Before starting his solo career, Bassy was the lead singer for 2AM Club, and wrote songs for CeeLo Green, Sean Kingston, Chris Brown, and many others.  Donning a plain white t-shirt and sunglasses, his look and style reminded me of a young Eminem, but his music could best be described as a cross between Hip Hop, R&B, and Pop.  Perfectly placed in the lineup for the night, he got the crowd on their feet and kept the audience engaged during his entire performance.

After prepping the stage for the headline act, Jon Bellion appeared, and the crowd went crazy.  Bellion opened his set with six songs from his 2018 release, “Glory Sound Prep.”  The Grammy Award-winning Bellion also played songs from his 2016 release, “The Human Condition.”  His unique sound is a blend of Hip Hop, Pop, and R&B, and his energy on stage is off the charts.  From beginning to end, he had the crowd dancing, singing along, and waving their arms back and forth.  His fifteen-song set included all of his well-known hits, an awesome encore, and his latest release, “Good Things Fall Apart.”  Combined with his melodic voice, onstage energy, starry backdrop, and stage lights, Jon Bellion gave the Pinewood Bowl crowd a concert they won’t ever forget.  This concert was amazing!
