Thursday May 6, 2021 – Throwback Arcade Lounge – Omaha, NE

The recently opened Throwback Arcade Lounge in downtown Omaha, Nebraska played host to the iconic 80’s band, Color Me Badd on Thursday night May 6, 2021, and it was awesome!

Fans of the group couldn’t have asked for a better venue.  The Throwback Arcade lounge is decked out with all kinds of 80’s and 90’s pictures, posters, and relics.  The colorful, fresh club opened towards the end of 2020, but because of health mandates, didn’t celebrate their grand opening until the weekend prior to this show.  The venue is outfitted with bright neon colors, lights, a colorfully-lit bar, and a light-up, color-changing dance floor!  It was literally the perfect spot for a fun-filled, throwback show like this.

Fans of the group filed in early, but the group didn’t take the stage until almost 11pm.  Although their performance only lasted about 40 minutes, it was well worth the wait. The group’s DJ pumped up the crowd with throwback songs from Naughty By Nature, Michael Jackson, and Usher, before the trio hit the stage.  The last original member of the group, Mark Calderon, was joined onstage by the two newest members, and their energy was off the charts.  From the moment they appeared, they had the crowd on their feet, dancing, and singing along to the music.  They opened the set with their smash hit, “All 4 Love”, but also treated fans to other classic Color Me Badd songs, “I Adore Mi Amor”, and “I Wanna Sex You Up”.  At one point in the performance, all three members ventured into the crowd, and brought a group of females back to the dance floor to experience the show up close and personal.

Concerts like these are really fun because they bring back great memories from decades past.  The group was really friendly, interacted with the crowd, and had great energy the whole time.  Since forming in 1985, the group has sold over 12 million records worldwide, had a triple-platinum album, and two number 1 hit singles, and is still going strong.  Even though the show was fairly short compared to most concerts, if you have the chance to see them live, witnessing the group perform their chart-topping songs is worth the price of admission!
