Cirque Italia Dazzles Crowds in Omaha

Covid 19 restrictions are over, and that means live entertainment is back!  There’s nothing quite like a Cirque show to kick off the summer with a bang, and that’s exactly what happened the weekend of July 16th.

Cirque Italia, the astounding water circus show, put on a weekend of shows in Omaha, Nebraska right outside the Westroads Mall.  I know what you’re thinking.  How in the world can they fit a traveling water circus in a tent in the parking lot of a shopping mall?!  Well, leave it to the talented crew at Cirque Italia to do just that!

Located inside a huge white circus tent, were lights, set pieces, merchandise stands, and bleacher seating! I don’t know how they make it work, but they do, and it’s amazing!

I attended the show Friday night July 16th, and this was my third time seeing Cirque Italia.  The great thing about this group is that no matter how many times I’ve seen them, they always do something different.  The show had an aquatic feel, with the stage literally lifting high above the audience to reveal a smaller round stage surrounded by a pool of water.  35,000 gallons of water to be exact!  The theme throughout the night involved pirates, exploration, and hidden treasures.

This show is perfect for the whole family, and has lots of colorful lights, shooting water displays, detailed backdrops, dramatic music, and plenty of dazzling entertainment.  From hilarious crowd interactions, to amazing aerial artists, this show had something for everyone.  This time around, the audience was treated to the comedy of Rafinha the circus clown, the “wheel of death”, amazing aerial performances, aerial hoops, aerial straps, an astounding balancing act, a beautiful mermaid, crossbow stunts, juggling, and a whole lot more!

What’s so fun about this show is to look in the audience and see how amazed all of the children are.  From the moment you enter the tent, a certain magic is in the air, and the cast of Cirque Italia knows how to deliver.  With amazing costumes and precise timing, the cast definitely shows that practice makes perfect.  It’s obvious all of the entertainers spend countless hours perfecting their craft, and it shows.  From beginning to end, Cirque Italia provides entertainment that everyone will enjoy!
