BATSU! Live Brings Comedy Gold to Omaha

It was bitterly cold outside, but inside the Holland Music Club in downtown Omaha, things heated up quickly as BATSU! rolled into town for the first of three nights of improv comedy chaos.

I caught night one of the run, and from start to finish, the show was absolutely hilarious. BATSU! rotates comedians depending on the city, but Omaha definitely got its money’s worth. Host Brian Walters kept the show moving at a perfect pace, and his quick-witted banter with the contestants kept the laughs coming between challenges.

The four Comedy Warriors for the night, Chrissie Kahler, Brandon Drap, Nicky Khor, and Frank Angelini, were improv masters. It’s honestly mind-blowing how fast they can think on their feet and turn the most ridiculous situations into comedy gold. The audience was fully into it the whole night, and things got even better when my friend Noah got called onstage to participate, only to end up being punished by eating sushi off one of the larger, hairier cast members. Definitely not something you see every day.

Other highlights included the rap battles and the natural chemistry between the performers. Watching them interact, you’d swear they’ve been working together for years. Every challenge felt unpredictable, and the punishments were just as outrageous as advertised.If BATSU! makes its way to your city, do yourself a favor and go. It’s one of the most unique and funniest live comedy experiences you can catch.
