Friday night, August 14, 2026, Stir Cove in Council Bluffs, Iowa was the setting for another incredible night of music. I’ve said it before, but Stir has really pulled out all the stops this year with their summer lineup.
It was a hot and humid night after thunderstorms rolled through earlier in the day, and the mud pits in the cove were definitely proof of that. Still, the weather didn’t keep people away. Thousands of fans packed in for a fantastic night featuring Andy Grammer and Walk Off The Earth.
The show kicked off with Walk Off The Earth, and I can’t even begin to tell you how talented this group is.
They’re a Canadian indie pop band from Burlington, Ontario, and they’re known for their creative music videos, unique covers, original songs, and the way they turn almost anything into an instrument. Over the years, they’ve built a huge following on YouTube by covering popular songs in ways that feel fresh and completely their own.
Their big breakout moment came in 2012 with their cover of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know,” where all five members played the same guitar at the same time. That video exploded online, earning millions of views and even landing them on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Since then, they’ve continued to build a career around creativity, musicianship, and a live show that feels unlike anything else.
The band currently includes Gianni “Luminati” Nicassio, Joel Cassady, Sarah Blackwood, and David “Tokyo” Speirs. Each member brings something different to the stage, and that’s part of what makes them so fun to watch. There’s always something happening. Someone is switching instruments, adding a vocal part, creating a rhythm, or finding some clever way to keep the song moving.
Walk Off The Earth has also picked up plenty of recognition along the way. They’ve earned several Juno Award nominations and won Group of the Year at the 2016 Juno Awards. They’ve also won Canadian Radio Music Awards, a CASBY Award, a Streamy Award for Cover Songs, and a Juno Award for Children’s Album of the Year for Romeo Eats Vol. 2.
I was already a fan of a few of their songs before this show, but after I got home, I immediately added a bunch more to my playlist. They were absolutely phenomenal. The crowd gave them a huge response, and they deserved every bit of it.
Their set was nonstop in the best way. There weren’t awkward pauses or dead spots between songs. The music just kept moving, and the group’s energy never dropped. They were also color coordinated, which gave the whole performance a fun visual identity without feeling overdone.
What impressed me most was how they blended everything together. Their instruments were unique, their arrangements were clever, and the whole thing felt effortless even though you could tell there was a ton of work behind it. They made it look easy, which is usually how you know you’re watching something special.
They currently have over 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and their latest album, Wood & Wire, is definitely worth checking out.
I was blown away by their performance, and I can’t wait to see them again. Honestly, I didn’t want their set to end. It was the perfect way to start the night.
Walk Off The Earth Setlist:
After a brief intermission, it was time for Andy Grammer!
Grammer is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer who first broke through with his 2011 debut album. That album included “Keep Your Head Up” and “Fine by Me,” two songs that helped introduce him as an artist with a bright, feel-good sound and a lot of heart.
His second album, Magazines or Novels, came out in 2014 and featured “Honey, I’m Good,” which became his biggest hit to date. The song reached number nine on the Billboard Hot 100, was certified triple platinum by the RIAA, and became one of the best-selling songs of 2015. That album also included “Good to Be Alive (Hallelujah),” another song that’s become a fan favorite.
Grammer has also had success with songs like “Fresh Eyes,” “Don’t Give Up on Me,” “Keep Your Head Up,” and “Fine by Me.” His music has always had a hopeful quality to it, but it doesn’t come across as fake or overly polished. There’s a sincerity there, and that’s a big part of why people connect with him.
Before all of that success, Grammer started as a busker on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. Knowing that makes his stage presence make even more sense. He performs like someone who knows how to win over a crowd because he had to learn how to do it from the ground up.
This guy knows how to put on a show.
From the moment he came onstage, he had an electric energy about him, and the crowd loved every minute of it. Whether he was playing one of his bigger hits or slowing things down for a ballad, he had full command of the stage.
He looked and sounded amazing. This was my first time seeing him live, and it was such a pleasure hearing songs I’ve grown to love performed in person. There’s something really uplifting about his music, and that feeling comes through even stronger live.
The crowd was locked in all night. People were singing along, dancing, and clearly having a great time despite the humidity and muddy ground. Grammer made the whole show feel warm and personal, which isn’t always easy to do in an outdoor venue packed with thousands of people.
He currently has over 10.4 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and he just released a new song, “All I Want Is You,” which is fantastic. He’s also gearing up for his upcoming album, Big Stupid Heart, set to be released later this year.
This was another fantastic night of music at Stir Cove. Walk Off The Earth absolutely blew me away, and Andy Grammer delivered the kind of joyful, high-energy performance that sends everyone home smiling.
