July 18, 2025 – Stir Cove – Council Bluffs, IA

It was a hot summer night in Council Bluffs on Friday, July 18, 2025, and Stir Cove was packed with thousands of fans ready for a night of classic rock. With Jefferson Starship, The Marshall Tucker Band, and headliners Bachman-Turner Overdrive on the bill, the stage was set for an unforgettable evening of music and nostalgia.

The night kicked off with Jefferson Starship, and even though they may have had a short set, they made every minute count. They packed in all the hits—“Jane,” “White Rabbit,” “Find Your Way Back,” and more—giving the crowd a blast of classic rock energy from start to finish.

I never thought I’d ever hear “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” live, but they played it and it sounded great. It definitely took me back to my younger years and gave me flashbacks to the iconic movie Mannequin.

The band, originally formed in the early ’70s as a spin-off of Jefferson Airplane, has seen plenty of lineup changes over the years, but their sound is still strong. With multiple gold and platinum albums and a legacy that includes Grammy nominations and a spot in rock history, Jefferson Starship showed they’ve still got it. Their performance was tight, nostalgic, and a perfect way to kick off the night.

Jefferson Starship Setlist:

  • Find Your Way Back
  • Sara (Starship cover)
  • Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now (Albert Hammond cover)
  • White Rabbit (Jefferson Airplane cover)
  • We Built This City (Starship cover)
  • Jane
  • Somebody to Love (The Great Society cover)

Next to the stage was Marshall Tucker Band, and they took things to another level. They delivered a solid, feel-good set that had the whole crowd singing along from start to finish. Their mix of Southern rock, blues, and country sounded just as strong as ever, and it was clear these guys still know how to put on a great show. The crowd gave them a huge response, especially during classics like “Heard It in a Love Song” and “Can’t You See.” With over 5.9 million monthly listeners on Spotify, this band clearly still has a massive fanbase and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. Current members Doug Gray, Marcus James Henderson, Chris Hicks, Rick Willis, Ryan Ware, and B.B. Borden brought tons of energy to the stage. Over the years, the band has earned numerous gold and platinum albums and remains a key influence in the Southern rock scene. They’ve been at it since the early ’70s, and judging by this performance, they’re not done yet. Fantastic set!

After a brief intermission, it was time for Bachman-Turner Overdrive! These guys were definitely worth the wait, and closed out the night with a killer set that reminded everyone why they’re rock legends. The band sounded tight and powerful, and the crowd was all in—on their feet, singing along, and cheering from start to finish. The cool blue, purple and pink lighting added a great visual vibe to the performance, perfectly matching their classic rock energy.

With hits like “Takin’ Care of Business” and “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet,” BTO brought the nostalgia while still proving they’ve got plenty left in the tank. The band, formed in the early ’70s by Randy Bachman and Fred Turner, has racked up over 3.2 million monthly Spotify listeners and was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame back in 2014. Their latest single, “60 Years Ago,” shows they’re still putting out quality music—it’s definitely worth adding to your rock playlist.
