July 16, 2025 – The Astro – La Vista, NE
Wednesday night, July 16, 2025, at The Astro in La Vista, Nebraska, was one for the books. With clear skies and perfect summer weather, it was the ideal setting for an outdoor concert in Nebraska. The night kicked off with Omaha’s own Dreion, who brought serious energy and soul to the stage. Then came the main event—legendary hitmakers Earth, Wind & Fire—who delivered a powerful, feel-good performance that kept the crowd on their feet all night long.
Dreion, who opened the show with a bang, is a singer from Omaha, Nebraska. With a sound that mixes soul, funk, gospel, and R&B, this guy knows how to put on a show!
He started singing when he was just a kid and eventually earned a full ride to Berklee College of Music. He’s been through a lot—growing up in the foster care system—but he’s turned those challenges into something positive, using music to inspire and connect with others. He was on Season 26 of The Voice and got a four-chair turn for his performance of “Shining Star.” He picked Snoop Dogg as his coach and made it to the Battles round. Dreion has opened for big names like Earth, Wind & Fire and Musiq Soulchild, and he’s out there performing, writing music, and sharing his story. His performance was amazing, and he definitely set the tone for an amazing night of music.
After a brief intermission, it was time for Earth, Wind & Fire!
In case you’re not familiar, Earth, Wind & Fire is one of the most legendary bands in music history, known for their mix of funk, soul, R&B, jazz, and pop. They formed in Chicago in 1969, led by founder Maurice White, and quickly became known for their high-energy live shows, killer horn section, and positive, uplifting lyrics. Their biggest hits—like “September,” “Let’s Groove,” “Shining Star,” and “Boogie Wonderland”—are still dance floor staples today.
The band has racked up an impressive list of awards and honors over the years. They’ve won six Grammy Awards (with over 20 nominations), four American Music Awards, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. They also have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2019. With over 90 million records sold worldwide, Earth, Wind & Fire remains one of the best-selling and most influential bands of all time.
These guys looked an sounded amazing! From the moment they stepped on stage in their color-coordinated black and green sparkly outfits, the energy was electric. They played all the hits—“September,” “Boogie Wonderland,” “Let’s Groove,” “Shining Star,” and so many more—and the crowd was loving every second. The horn section was on fire, adding so much power and groove to the music, and every band member had a huge smile on their face the entire time.
