July 5, 2025 – Saturday in the Park – Sioux City, IA

Saturday in the Park never disappoints, and this year’s festival—held on July 5, 2025—was no exception. Set against the backdrop of the Grandview Park Municipal Bandshell in Sioux City, Iowa, this beloved annual tradition once again brought together music lovers, families, and festival-goers from across the Midwest for a day of fun, food, and fantastic music.

The festival pulled in a crowd of around 25,000 people, and the grounds were buzzing with activity—art vendors showcased unique handmade goods, and the food and drink options seemed endless. From local favorites to festival classics, there was something for every craving. A towering ferris wheel and lively carnival games added to the atmosphere, and misting stations were a welcome touch on a hot summer day.

Although I couldn’t make it out until later in the afternoon, I still caught some incredible performances. Over on the Abe Stage, Joey Cool brought sharp flows and commanding stage presence, getting the crowd hyped and moving. Next up was Riff Raff, who delivered a wild, high-energy set full of charisma, color, and unpredictability—exactly what fans hoped for.

The highlight of the night was undoubtedly Teddy Swims, the festival’s headliner.

Swims is a soulful singer from Conyers, Georgia, who rose to fame in 2019 by posting powerful YouTube covers of artists like Shania Twain and Michael Jackson. His unique blend of soul, pop, R&B, and rock quickly gained traction and led to a deal with Warner Records. In 2023, he released his debut album I’ve Tried Everything but Therapy (Part 1), featuring the smash hit “Lose Control,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 and spent over 90 weeks on the chart. The follow-up, Part 2, dropped in 2025 with big-name collaborations and hit No. 1 in multiple countries.

Teddy has earned major accolades, including wins at the Billboard Music Awards, Los 40 Music Awards, and iHeartRadio Music Awards, plus Grammy and MTV nominations. With his raw vocals and emotional lyrics, he’s quickly become one of today’s most exciting breakout stars.

His set was absolutely amazing! With his soulful voice and undeniable charm, he had the crowd completely captivated from start to finish. Whether belting out his hits or slowing things down for more emotional moments, he proved exactly why he’s one of today’s most exciting live performers. His blend of soul, pop, and rock was the perfect way to close out the day.

Even though I missed earlier acts like Mavis Staples, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Kelly Hunt and the 5, and more, it’s clear Saturday in the Park once again lived up to its reputation as one of the Midwest’s best summer festivals. Between the music, the setting, and the all-around good vibes, it was a night to remember!
