For anyone seeking a fun dance party, Chromeo and The Midnight delivered an unforgettable night at Steelhouse in Omaha, Nebraska on Wednesday, October 16th, with their Chrome Nights North American Tour.

The venue was packed with fans eager to experience the spectacle, and they certainly got their money’s worth!

The Midnight, a synthwave band known for their nostalgic, 80s-inspired sound, blending electronic beats with smooth vocals and atmospheric melodies, opened the show. The group was formed by singer-songwriter Tyler Lyle and producer Tim McEwan in 2012. Tyler brings emotive lyrics and vocals, while Tim adds his signature lush, cinematic production.

Over the years, The Midnight has garnered a dedicated fanbase, thanks to their hit albums like Endless Summer and Monsters. They’ve been praised for their energetic live performances and captivating music videos. While they haven’t received major music awards yet, their influence on the synthwave genre has been widely recognized, earning them a prominent place within the movement and leading to sold-out shows worldwide.

Currently, they have close to 915 thousand monthly listeners on Spotify, and their latest single “Chariot,” is definitely worth adding to your dance playlist.

Catching them live is like stepping into a time machine set to the best parts of the 80s, but with a modern twist. From the moment the band hit the stage, the crowd was wrapped in a dreamy, brightly colored vibe that felt both nostalgic and fresh. Tyler Lyle’s vocals were smooth and emotional, perfectly complemented by Tim McEwan’s lush production that had everyone swaying.

The live saxophone moments were pure magic—transporting the room into a synthwave dreamscape, and the setlist was packed with fan favorites like “Sunset” and “Lost Boy.”

Fans were dancing, singing along, and fully immersed in the music. The visuals—bright red, green, yellow, and purple lights made the whole experience feel cinematic.  It felt like a full-blown 80s celebration with a futuristic edge. After a brief intermission, it was time for Chromeo!

In case you’re not familiar, Chromeo is a Canadian electro-funk duo made up of childhood friends David “Dave 1” Macklovitch (vocals, guitar) and Patrick “P-Thugg” Gemayel (keys, talk box). Formed in 2002, they’re known for their infectious blend of funky basslines, slick guitar riffs, and quirky lyrics, often laced with humor. Their music draws heavily from 80s funk, disco, and pop, creating an irresistibly fun and retro sound.

Over the years, Chromeo has built a loyal following, thanks to hits like “Fancy Footwork,” “Jealous (I Ain’t With It),” and “Bonafied Lovin’.” Their high-energy live performances and charismatic stage presence have made them festival favorites. They’ve received recognition for their unique style, including a Grammy nomination for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical for their album Head Over Heels in 2019.

With a career spanning more than two decades, Chromeo has become a defining act in the electro-funk scene, combining nostalgia with a modern twist that keeps fans grooving. Currently, they have over 2.7 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and they don’t seem to be slowing down any time soon.

From the moment they hit the stage, their charisma took over. The crowd was instantly moving to those infectious basslines and groovy guitar riffs.

Dave 1’s smooth vocals and slick guitar solos, paired with P-Thugg’s mastery of the talk box and synths, created a perfect retro-meets-modern sound. Songs like “Fancy Footwork” and “Bonafied Lovin’” had the entire venue dancing, singing along, and losing themselves in the energy of the night. The duo’s playful banter with the audience only adds to the fun, keeping the show lighthearted and engaging.

The visuals—complete with bright lights and haze—made it feel like a full-blown throwback party.

Chromeo knows how to bring the funk live.  They turned Steelhouse into a sweaty, joyous celebration of all things groove. If you’re into funky beats and killer energy, a Chromeo concert is an absolute must-see!
